This week in Lembongan… Our divers have witnessed, thresher sharks, marble rays, bamboo sharks, white tip reef sharks and an extra large trevally.
With the moving currents that we get in the areas around Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida a lot of these apex predators use these currents for movement, hunting and feeding. Although we may not see them very often, there are some big sharks in the area. The only issue is, these sharks come up from the deep to hunt in the very strong currents, where they use their powerful swimming abilities to catch the slower fish caught in the currents. It is these strong currents which divers avoid for safety. So we only these this creatures in their peaceful state as they pass on by after lunch.
This week, DMT Phil has been working through a lot of things on land as his ear infection has kept him out of the water. He was able to, very carefully, jump in the pool with fellow DMT Angela, to play victim for her rescue course.
We are also very happy to welcome Wakary from Bunaken, who will be one of our new dive guides for this coming high season. He will be spending the next few weeks, in the water every day learning the dive sites.
Besides the larger sea creatures, we have also been seeing the fun small creatures to, creatures that I am always amazed with how our talented dive guides are able to find them, such as; skeleton crabs, frog fish, blue sea dragons, orangutan crabs, decorative crab (aka funky crab, according to Phil), porcelain crab and garden eels.
