What better way to kick off the new year than by further advancing your SCUBA diving skills? Our most recent advanced open water and nitrox diver from Japan thought exactly that! Masa checked in at the very end of last year and immediately got started with his advanced course. Our instructor Ilse guided him through his peak performance buoyancy, drift, night, deep and navigation dives and taught him all the ins and outs of the enriched air diver (nitrox) course. He smashed the exam and decided he would like to use nitrox for the remainder of his holiday. He checked out this morning with a huge smile on his face, happy that he made such a good start to 2019.
Besides Masa completing his courses, our instructor Sam completed Thea’s first ever discover SCUBA dive this week. Thea has traveled to Bunaken with her husband Erik and their daughter Sofie. Sofie completed her rescue diver course with our colleagues in Lembeh before Christmas and was joined by her parents before she came over to Bunaken. Whilst they were on the island, Thea took the opportunity to give SCUBA diving a try by taking part in the discover scuba diving program, which she completed in a morning. It has opened up a whole new world for her and she was beside herself with excitement. She is considering taking her open water diver course and improving her SCUBA diving skills by becoming a licensed SCUBA diver in 2019.
This week we have said goodbye to some familiar faces as our VIP guests Ben, Loyane, Jacqui and Andrea have checked out, and we welcomed some new faces; Rachel from Australia, Li, and Goa from China and Tim and his wife Anuja and their two kids Aaron and Rohan from Australia. Tim is a certified diver and our instructors will be training the rest of his family in becoming open water divers. What a wicked way to kick off the new year!
