This week I’ve been learning the art of guiding, much to the amusement of my instructors. There have been underwater fights, lost equipment, and some very bad buoyancy!
I also had my search and recovery scenario, where I learnt how to use different patterns to find objects and then once I had found them, I had to tie some knots and use a lift bag to bring the object to the surface. I managed to find my small object with no problems but somehow I swam straight past a massive rock, that the mantas use as a cleaning station, which was meant to be one of my points of reference. My beach clean up was a success this week with lots of guests from Two Fish as well as other places joining in.
This coming week is my last one, so I expect it will be very busy! I still have my mapping to do, so hopefully my navigation skills will improve. I also have my skills and rescue assessment, which makes it feel like things are getting even more serious. I have been in the pool today with instructor Stephanie running through again demonstration of my skills and practicing my rescue skills.
I’ve also been very lucky in my dives again, seeing another mola mola, both black and white tip reef sharks, and lots more!
