This is my fourth week as a dive master intern. This week my brother has come over to do his advanced course at Bunaken. I assisted on his course and since it was my last few days at Two Fish Bunaken I wrapped up some of my pending swim tests and the dive mapping activity.
After a few days in Bunaken we said goodbye and made our way to Lembeh where I would finish my Wreck Specialty and the Search and Recovery Specialty.
I finally met Dani after the extensive correspondence we had had before I came to Two Fish. This week I started off with both my Wreck and Search and Recovery dives interspaced with a few fun dives to get a feel of muck diving. Gradually I have learned to appreciate not just fish but even the tiny critters and colourful nudibranchs that Lembeh is full of.
The two of us tried a night dive as well as we were very keen to see an octopus and yes, we were not disappointed. We managed to see the starry night and wunderpus.
As part of the Wreck Specialty which initially Dani took and later on Hiro, I actually penetrated the Japanese cargo ship bang in the middle of the strait. It was a very exciting experience and very different from the normal sort of diving. Speaking of dives with a difference, we organised a dive against debris at Kareko Pasir. We had about 6 volunteers and we managed to collect close to 52kg of waste from the ocean most of which was plastic in various forms.
Can’t wait for next week where I would actually get certified as a divemaster!
