New Divemaster Trainee in Amed, Bali
We have been delighted to welcome to our Two Fish Divers Amed Resort a new Divemaster trainee this week. Fred has joined us and this is his first time in Indonesia! Fred has just completed his PADI Rescue Diver Course and is now just a week into his Divemaster Training in Amed – here are Fred’s first impressions of life at our beautiful black sand beach resort in Amed…….
“Ahoy! My name is Fred, first time in Indonesia!
Working on my PADI Divemaster Course, after finishing my Rescue Course. The week of reading and dive practices has started, and there is lots to learn but it’s an amazing experience so far. Everybody I’ve met has been nice and helpful! Not knowing what muck diving was prior to arriving here, I honestly thought the two divers I was with were playing a trick on me, but no! Muck diving really does exist and it turns out that Amed’s black sand sites are excellent for it! What you find is very tiny so you have to be close to the ground!
Boy, oh boy, the aquatic life here is amazing once you start to see these little critters. What a treat to find so much life on black sand!
In the resort, the local Balinese staff have been a lot of fun and the Balinese food is good too! I’m doing a lot of studying – which is not my thing as I don’t actually like studying, but hey it’s part of the job!
This first week has been a blur of wreck diving, night diving, muck diving(!!), assisting guides, hauling bottles, setting up gear, rinsing gear… basically a full-on task of learning my theory and on the job learning.
Second week here I come!
Are you thinking about becoming a PADI Divemaster? Our Amed Resort is a popular location for PADI Divemaster Trainees as it offers such a diversity of marine life and dive sites – including black sand, muck diving sites! It’s always a treat to see divers like Fred discovering a world of critters that they never knew existed for the first time! Amed is also an easy resort to combine with Two Fish Divers resorts on Nusa Lembongan, Gili Air, South Lombok and even Bunaken and Lembeh in North Sulawesi!
