embongan is completely different. So many tourists and backpackers, very different islands. That was the first thing I noticed after leaving Bunaken and spending a night in Manado and Sanur, Bali. At first I wasn’t sure if I would even make it to Denpasar.

We landed surprisingly early and I heard the announcement “welcome to Makassar”, but with my amazing navigation skills, I found my way to the airplane and arrived on time. It was ‘Nyepi’, which meant the sea was sleeping, so I wasn’t able to take the boat to Lembongan. I spent the day driving around in Bali, looking at the sights.
They warned me in Bunaken, where the water was 28°, that it’ll be cold diving in Lembongan, I thought they were just joking. After my first dive I realized they were not. 18° sometimes. The same temperature as in Germany, where I did my open water course.
I finished my swimming tests in Bunaken, the day after celebrating James passing his IE. Congratulations again James! And thank you Sandy for the great first part of my Divemaster course, it was so much fun with you!
I can’t say I was thrilled at the thought of dragging a body through a hundred meters of water, but I’m now one step closer to being a dive master so it was all worth it.
Digesting my time here since my last blog is difficult. Everyday tends to blend into the next with mapping out sites, times in the pool and assisting on open water courses, and helping out with a DSD and refresher. The easiest way to describe it is incredibly busy.
The diving has been great, cold but great. Went down deep but didn’t see too much. Some of the other divers saw some Molas which is amazing, but I wasn’t so lucky.

I got to see some Mantas and a shark today. Still haven’t seen a Mola, looking forward to next week.
