This week in Belongas we have been seeing big schools of Great Barracudas on every dive!!
The Visibility has been changing all week from 2 Meters to an astonishing 25 Meters towards the end and that didn’t stop our groups of divers seeing the barracudas circulating overhead like a flock of birds.
Among the Barracuda we have been spotting schools of Scalloped Hammerheads and great, White tip reef sharks, big eye Trevally, eagle rays and Mobula rays still at our dive site Gili Sarang.
As for the smaller creatures we have found a beautiful clown Frogfish colours consisting of white and red. He is the size of a closed fist and hangs around at 12 Meters on the north side of the dive site.
We have also had an increase of common octopus a fairly big size that have been spotted for 2 weeks now, not just the one but up to 3 per dive, they don’t seem particularly shy either.
We had divers from Bali, Freediving Instructors which have joined us for 3 years in a row here in Belongas and never had the luck to see the Hammers until yesterday where throughout the whole dive we were surrounded by 20+. The visibility was around 20 Meters, as we just hung in the blue watching in complete happiness. The hammerheads are not shy when in bigger groups and come close in curiosity which for us is the best as we really get to see detail of the sharks.
“Best dive ever” the group shouted as we surfaced!!!
