Here in Bunaken we like to point out the big things. In the great visibility, you can usually sit a little bit away from the reef and just watch the busy reef life going about its day. Occasionally we get a visit from some of the special little critters that some of our other dive centers are seeing regularly. One such beautiful little beast is the Clown Frogfish. Something that many divers have on their bucket list but not so many get the chance to really encounter one in real life!
Right in front of the resort on our house reef, we have been fortunate enough to have a Clown Frogfish walking around all week on the wall. It’s been going about its froggy business of catching small shrimp and fishes using its lure to attract them towards its waiting mouth.
We had visitors from Singapore this week who came to experience their first breaths under the water, although they found it more challenging than they first expected, had an awesome time and some excellent fun conquering their fears. Also, visitors from Belarus were able to see coral reefs up close and have some amazing wildlife encounters on their first dives. Our drift specialty divers conquered the currents of the ocean and learned the importance of buddy communication, positioning, awareness and control in the water.
