Already a PADI Divemaster?
Once you are a Divemaster your next sdtep is to become a PADI Instructor, and you will need to take the PADI Instructor Development Course, commonly called an IDC. The IDC is run over 10 days, and we have a full calendar with year round IDC’s, in fact, we have an IDC almost every month rotated over 4 of our locations – Bunaken, Amed, Gili Islands and Nusa Lembongan.
Unlike other PADI Courses, the IDC has a fixed start date (although you are wlcome to come earlier) as the IDC start date is scheduled to match up with that month’s PADI IE (Instructor Exams) – these are the exams which are set and overseen by PADI. By scheudling our IDC’s to match the IE dates we ensure you have a smooth transition from one to the other with no wasting days or hanging around. The exams usually take place over two days in a location closeby and we go to the exams with you and are there by your side!
After passing your Instructor Exams, we offer the Master Scuba Diver Trainer, MSDT for short. It’s a short 2-3 day course run this after the IE, and it allows you to teach what are called speciality courses (Wreck Speciality, Deep Speciality, etc). We recommend this as it makes you more marketable afterward and is a great addition to your CV. You’ll go from being a PADI Instructor to a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer – the next level of Instructor!
Our Two Fish Divers IDC and MSDT program costs around EURO 1,850. There are additional costs that cannot be avoided such as fees to PADI, and manuals & materials that add up to around another EURO 1,500. This means that or your IDC and MSDT training you are looking at a total of around EURO 3,350 (not including accommodation & food).
This seems a lot of money and we understand that. We’ve all been through the process ourselves of weighing up the costs but decided it was worth it to get to where we are now – enjoying an amazing life in the tropics and diving. Ask any one of us and we’ll all say the same – it was 100% worth it! Would we pay it again? In a heartbeat! Life as a diving professional can take you all over the world. You’ll see amazing places, live on islands other people only dream of visiting and you’ll meet people from all corners of the globe and from all walks of life. It just can’t get any better. It’s quite simply amazing and it’s yours for the taking.
FREE INSTRUCTOR INTERNSHIP
After your MSDT we offer a unique Instructor Internship opportunity for a minimum of 2 weeks. During this time you will teach your own courses under the watchful eyes of our experienced instructors. A bit like getting your driving license – the first few courses on your own are very scary and having an experienced pair of hands to help out (if needed) and make suggestions is a great idea. During your internship you’ll be notching up cerifications on your official record as a PADI Instructor which you can download and use when applying for jobs to show that you already have some experience teaching and certifying divers.
We don’t charge anything for our Instructor Internship and we only offer this to those who we feel fit with out team. Life in a dive center is all about team work and being a team player. Depending on you being accepoted and the location you need to pay your own accommodation which is about EURO20 per night. In some areas, there are local homestays which are cheaper and we can help you to find somewhere within your budget.
For those who fit with our team we are happy to extend Instructor Internships for up to 2 months but this is a decision we make when we have got to know you – and you us! Our internships are aimed at giving the right people experience in the dive industry and having had work experience you’ll find it easier to find long term positions in the future.
With your PADI Instructor qualifications and work experience on your CV the world will literally be your oyster!
