This week in Bunaken… Bunaken is mostly known for its breathtaking wall diving and abundance of chilled out turtles. So you can imagine the surprise (followed my squeals of joy) when a blue ringed octopus was found by instructor Dion during a night dive on Lekuan III. The little guy was not shy at all and the divers could enjoy watching him for minutes as he moved over the sand and flashed his deadly blue rings. (Photo: Ina Wallin)

During the week the currents have been a bit all over the place and over all there has been plenty of it. There have also been some thermoclines with temperatures dropping to a nippy 24 degrees! This has however brought in heaps and heaps of big game fish; giant trevallies, tunas, barracudas, wahoo, king mackerel, and intense hunting scenes has unravelled infront of the divers. During the surface interval one day a massive marlin was seen putting on a show hunting and leaping high out of the water.

To experience quite a lot of current can be a challenge for any diver, but even more so during your PADI Open Water course. This did however not faze Lauren from the US who took it all head on and without batting an eye. And to have some challenges during your Open Water course is good, makes a lot of other diving so much easier! Her boyfriend Adam was busy with hid PADI Advanced Open Water course and he got his run for the money during the Adventure Drift dive. He was also one of the lucky ones to see the blue ringed octopus. Well done guys!
