This week at Two Fish divers Amed, we were very busy with lots of fun divers and courses. Our boat was full every day, so we had to organize daily trips from shore. We would like to highlight some of our best trips in Amed : Night diving on the USAT Liberty shipwreck and see the Bumphead parrotfish.
Nina and Jack have already dove with us in Bunaken. They already know the skills of our dive guides. Amed start to be a muck diving destination, they want to discover the wonders of Amed. They are not disappointed. Amed offers one of the biggest biodiversity in the world. They also had the opportunity to visit the shipwreck Liberty during daytime.
Jenny start her PADI Advanced Open Water in Lembongan. As an enthusiastic diver, she wanted to discover new experience. After her wreck diving adventure, she asked if we could do a night dive on the Liberty.
We were happy to organize a night dive trip on the Liberty. Nina and Jack could discover the shipwreck with a different point of view. Jenny could finish her advanced course. The dive was amazing. Everybody could at last see the famous Bumphead parrotfishes. The humphead is the largest of the parrotfishes at 130 cm in length and weighing up to 50 kg. Bumphead parrotfish are vital to the reef building process – as they crush rubble and dead coral into sand. They sleep in cocoons. Before going to sleep they extrude mucus from their mouths, which envelops around them forming a protective cocoon. It is thought this secures them and hides there scent from predators. This mucus envelope may also act as an early warning system, allowing the parrotfish to flee when it detects predators disturbing the membrane.
Hope to see you soon !
