Spent months figuring out where was the best place to do my divemaster course – I wanted to find a good balance between 1. quality of diving, 2. quality of training and 3. level of comfort. Bunaken scored good in all three areas. After hesitating between some resorts, I choose Two Fish because it seemed the best equipped operation for educational purposes.

After finishing my rescue course, I started the one month long divemaster training in Two Fish Bunaken. From the beginning, I was part of the staff, with the good and the less good things it implies: you do diving-related stuff all day every day (instructor assistant on courses, boat loading and unloading, compressor, equipment room, briefings, guiding, …), you represent Two Fish and are in constant contact with the guests, you get to see how a dive operation works from all angles – many of which are new even to experienced divers.

Switching from a «guest» mindset to a «team member» one was sometimes difficult in the beginning, but once integration took place, it started to pay off. I recently started guiding under supervision and I am very happy, because it’s one of the main reasons I wanted to undertake the course: feel confident about taking people diving in a safe and fun way, and knowing how and where to find cool stuff.
