Hi there! My name is Lilly and I just spend my first week of my 7 weeks total as a divemaster trainee. Diving has always been my passion and after studying 5 months in cold (but beautiful) Northern Ireland as my gap semester I decided to take my diving “career” (if you can call it that) further by becoming a Divemaster before heading back home to Switzerland. I just came back from learning how to fill tanks and spend my morning assisting a PADI Open Water diver on his first two dives. Now I have 40 minutes to write this blog after which instructor Dion will show me how to use the compass so I hopefully won’t get lost during the night dive this evening.
Am I dead? Yes. Do I love every second of it? Hell yeah! Every day I learn something new, the people are great and so is the Bintang at the bar of Two Fish Bunaken. There is also time for fun dives where I can bring along my camera and capture some of the stunning underwater life such as the Candy Crab in the picture above. I slowly get to know how a dive resort works and that it takes much more than just putting on dive gear and jumping into the water. Tomorrow I will spend my morning in the pool practicing how to demonstrate different dive skills. Wish me luck with that, the first time I did it I surely did not look like a professional! Off I go now, Dion is probably waiting for me already…
