North Lombok, Gili Air this week we have been getting busy, busy and more busy!! Equipment room done, stocked and in working order, swimming poold nearly finished and posters everywhere on the windows. Just in time for our steady flow of fun divers and courses. Our boat has been out every day with a minimum of 2 divers to the maximum of 9. Around the Gilis we get all sorts of life, from macro to Pelagics. Mostly this week I have been looking under our feather stars in search for Squat Lobsters and under more than half I come across there they are from the orange/black to white/black, green/black and yellow/black. From small little ones the size of your little finger nail to beasts the size of your thumb. I absolutely love them and how there claws just bob around almost like thye are listening to music.
We have also been seeing a lot more reef octopus around, hiding in their holes and coming out for a wonder. Peacock mantis shrimps, cuttle fish, blue fin trevally, nudibranchs and moray eels. Another lovely find was the biggest banded sea snake I have ever seen, he was huge. At first just still with his head under a rock then he started to move and swim towards us. I must admit that by this time my heart skipped a beat. He was just in search for the hole I was peeking into.
Visibility has been lovely this week, some days we have had fairly big waves but there are plenty of dive site around to find the flat water.
