Hot weather has arrived at Two Fish Divers Nusa Lembongan this week, sunny hot days and cool nights. November is the perfect time to enjoy diving our local dive sites when there are not so many other divers, the days are long and hot and our coral reefs are bursting with fish!
One of the most beautiful coral reef dive sites around Lembongan and Penida – is Toyapakeh. In local language that means “Saltwater”. This amazing place is located on the North-West of Nusa Penida and it attracts divers with its clear water, amazing coral gardens and several Mola cleaning stations. But not only divers like this place, but it is also very popular for snorkeling too. This is one of Bali’s most famous and most beautiful coral reefs, where the colours are incredible and there are fish everywhere!
The location of Toyapakeh, in the corner of a bay means that there are often currents here, and currents underwater create rich marine life in this area. We need to time our dives here carefully to get some current but not too much – ideally we cruise around the corner on the drift, enjoying the underwater action as we go. This week we were lucky to visit it twice with our guests Michael from USA, Bartek and Ula from Poland, Ashley and Arjun from Singapore, and today we saw two Mola there too.
Did you know, that there are several coral reef cleaning stations for Mola in Toyapakeh? We spotted Mola in different parts of the site as they were enjoying the cleaning process – where the small fish come and pick parasites from their bodies. Recently the water temperature here has been cool and today it was as cool as 17 degrees in some of the deeper spots. It was already our second morning dive after making a sunrise dive, so we really noticed the cold – but we were rewarded for our freezing underwater by nice meetings with Mola.
Toyapakeh is not just famous for mola. Its coral reefs are what really make this site special. Toyapakeh is home for lots of creatures, including turtles, moray eels, snappers, unicorn fishes, triggerfishes, pufferfishes and many other cute ocean citizens. When you swim in between the coral pinnacles, that are totally covered with soft and hard corals, you have a feeling of that you are swimming in a magic aquarium.
So, if you want to dive in this “magical” spot, come with us to visit us and dive this beautiful site, full of life and unforgettable memories.
