This week in Lembeh we have been busy bees! In addition to a week of special critters and awesome night dives we have also had lots of students taking courses and held a clean-up dive!
First of all let’s congratulate our students… Dymphna joined the craze and got PADI Sidemount certified with Sandy; Ursula completed her Digital Underwater Photography specialty with Hiro; and Ishan completed his Wreck and Search & Recovery specialties with Dani & Hiro and finished his PADI Divemaster course!
Ishan also organised a Dive Against Debris where we collected 52 kg of marine debris from Kareko Pasir dive site with the help of our guests and staff, all in support of Project Aware’s Debris month of Action this September.
When we were not busy cleaning up the ocean and certifying divers we also got out and saw some very cool critters! Highlights this week have been Velvet and delicate Ghost Pipefish, Zebra Batfish, Hairy Shrimp, a Stargazer during the daytime, Harlequin Shrimp and mating Blue Ringed Octopus!
We have also seen our usual suspects (we say “usual”, but these are actually pretty special, too!)… A week of diving in Lembeh wouldn’t be complete without seeing Hairy Frogfish, Mimic Octopus, Wunderpus, all four types of Pygmy Seahorse, Tiger Shrimp, Flamboyant Cuttlefish, Coconut Octopus, tiny Painted Frogfish, Clown Frogfish, Lembeh Sea Dragons, plus extra awesome night dives with Bobbit Worms, Starry Night Octopus and Bobtail Squid.
