Cuttlefish’s eyes are speculated to be fully developed before birth and start observing their surroundings while still in the egg, and may prefer to hunt the prey they saw before hatching.
Although cuttlefish cannot see color, they can perceive the polarization of light, which enhances their perception of contrast. They have two spots of concentrated sensor cells on their retina, one to look more forward, and one to look more backward.
The average life expectancy of a cuttlefish is about one to two years. Recent studies indicate cuttlefish are among the most intelligent invertebrates. Cuttlefish also have one of the largest brain-to-body size ratios of all invertebrates.
The south gilis became a spot for professional photographers and those who are sharing this passion. The south gili has any kind of variations of different macro-life. So our cuttlefish less than 3 centimeters has got a lot of fans and did the modeling. This week in Lombok we saw 6 pygmy seahorses; orang utan crap; critters and crustaceans all kind; frogfish; scorpion leaf fish; blue ribbon eal; blue spotted stingray; whitetipshark; and many more!
We like to say congratulations to Bjoern, he did the PADI Advanced Course with us. Kim his girlfriend joined for the PADI Deep Adventure Dive. Straightly we went to the dive site “canyon”, the shark point at the south gilis. In 25 meters and they were not disappointed. They saw for their first time our homies the whitetip reef shark.
