Dawn dives in Bunaken let us get up close and personal with white tip reef sharks. Getting up early for a 6am dive is worth it when you realise what you might get the chance to see and we weren’t disappointed this week. Clare, Katharina, Camile and Daniel all joined Tian and Colin and were greeted by 5 white tip reef sharks ranging in size from less than 1m to over 1.5m, at a depth of approx. 20m. The smaller ones swam right underneath the divers, almost close enough to touch, and didn’t seem worried at all. What an amazing way to start the day!
This week has also seen Katharina completing her PADI Advanced Open Water course with instructor Colin, well done to her. Going to 30m, identifying fish, navigating a perfect square, diving at night and perfecting buoyancy were all part of becoming a better diver. And doing an hour long last dive with Tian was a nice first too!
Sadly, we have said goodbye to some VIP guests, Simon and Clare from England, I’m not sure if the dogs will miss Clare more or the other way round but after 2 weeks of diving with us, we will all miss you. (Guess what we had at dinner last night?!) Until next time, safe travels. Finn and Hanna from Denmark have been enjoying some great diving this week too. A bit different to Two Fish Divers Lembeh where they started their vacation, but lots of sharks and turtle sightings and still some small critters too! We hope you had a great time at both of our North Sulawesi locations, See you next time!
Some people arrive to Bunaken, experienced and ready to explore the dive sites, knowing that they are in for a treat. That wasn’t the case with Yuyu and Cindy from China, they came to learn and try diving for the first time ever! Colin had a lot of fun teaching these 2 the basics that you need to learn before you can go out diving, as part of the Discover Scuba Diving program, in our swimming pool, and Cindy and Yuyu then got to do 4 open water dives with their instructor, seeing a small green turtle and a white tip reef shark, along with all the beautiful reef fishes that crowd the dive sites. Next time with a bit more training, they can aim for the Open Water Diver certification. Good job girls!
And some just can’t stay away! Yesterday we welcomed Daniel back from his travels to begin his Divemaster course here in Bunaken. He will spend 3 weeks here and 2 weeks at Two Fish Divers Amed becoming a professional diver. We look forward to beginning your training here and taking you to the next level in your diving career. The world is your lobster, as they say!
Miss the place, people and Cosmo so much, thanks for a brilliant time, see you all again soon….. enjoy the chocolate pudding Colin ??
