Dive against Debris on our adopted dive site Muka Kampung off Bunaken Island.
We have done many beach and underwater clean ups before but this week we had our first ‘dive against debris’ on our adopted dive site Muka Kampung in front of Bunaken village.
Nine guests, four dive guides and two instructors collected 16 kg of debris. We still had an amazing dive with a lot of turtles, morays, orangutan crabs and the reef was buzzing with reef fish all over the wall. There was actually hardly any debris on the reef wall itself and most of it was floating in the blue off the wall and on the surface. The debris we collected was mainly plastic but included also other household trash.
Thank you very much for everybody who helped to collect the debris on that dive. We will regularly do a ‘dive against debris’ on Muka Kampung now. Every little step helps our environment.
