WOW! What an amazing first week of our Dive Master training course.
We have been very lucky to have been welcomed into the family here at Two Fish, Bunaken.
We have done so much already, completing both the dive master theory exams, the 400m swim and the 15 minute float test already behind us.
We have learnt so much about how a dive resort runs on a daily basis and have been lucky enough to assist on an open water course, an advanced course and a discover scuba diving course. We are slowly getting stronger carrying tanks to and from the boat. We have been impressed by the skill, commitment and helpfulness of the whole team, from the boat crew, the receptionists, the instructors and the kitchen staff.
…and we haven’t even mentioned the diving yet! Which has been beautiful. We have seen so many underwater marvels already, more turtles and nudibranches than you could count. A common octopus, a cuttlefish, a sailfin dragonette, a baby frog fish, white tip reef sharks, tuna, mackerel, barracuda, lobsters, orangutan crabs, many shrimp and a myriad of reef fish of every hue. It is truly incredible to be able to dive here every day. There is good variation, especially between the mainland and Bunaken itself. The walls are very beautiful and the coral is healthy.
We have improved in our skills so much already and we are looking forward to the next week; where we will continue to learn how to assist, to develop our demonstration skills and lots more diving.
Today is Hayley’s birthday so we were given the opportunity to do some fun diving which was exactly that. We had the brilliant Rosa guide us and show us all sorts of wonders like flatworms and leaf scorpionfish and a tiny baby frogfish (previously mentioned, but that’s because it is so awesome).
Awesome time so far – looking forward to more!
