Buoyancy Training in Lembongan Bay
Hi Everyone! My name is Ryan and I am a Divemaster trainee, with another Divemaster trainee (and partner in crime, Nolan), for almost three weeks now on the tiny island of Nusa Lembongan – and it has been amazing.
Having just come from Two Fish Amed the diving here is vastly different. Instead of muck and wrecks there are drifts and huge, colorful coral reefs. It has been a really cool, fun and challenging experience practicing guiding, especially in the exciting drifts. The conditions here have been sweet, good visibility and lots of cool marine life spotting’s. The most memorable day here was recently when we made a trip to Manta Bay. That dive was the best I have ever had, we were lucky enough to see some Manta Rays, it was incredible. On that dive we also saw a variety of colorful nudibranchs, a sea turtle, a couple of octopus, a moray eel, some peacock mantis shrimp, and cuttlefish. The findings seemed to never end. The training has also ventured beyond the ocean, a lot of time has been spent learning how to facilitate various dive center operations and practicing skills in the pool – including buoyancy training. We’ve even re-named the dive site in Lembongan Bay – “Lemboogie Bay” as that’s where we’ve done a lot of buoyancy training – that’s where I am in the picture above!
Our Instructors Tom and John have done a really great job working with us and teaching us about working as a PADI professional. Aside from the diving and training my favorite part about being here has been enjoying the delicious breakfast and lunch served here every day, it is honestly something I look forward to when I wake up in the morning. Also, the sunsets here are tough to beat, they are the perfect way to end each day here.
