Hey there Fred again and final time! I made it! I am a PADI Divemaster and it’s official! This last week has been very successful and satisfying.

This last week I got a bit sick but that did not stop me from being around and help the team in the daily routine, finished my exams and get myself back on track. I got to finish my last skill circuit with flying colors, I made a few mistakes on the theory exams but nothing too dramatic as I have passed that as well!  The week before I got the pleasure of working on my Project AWARE and well since I already keep a trash bag in my diving jacket to use whenever I find trash in the water I decided to use the more being aware meaning. We also watched the Shark Water movie by the sadly late Rob Stewart on my projector, we had a wonderful dinner of mangos, popcorn and beers! The movie night was such a success that we decided to watch a more friendly movie this week. What better movie than Finding Nemo right? Good times!

A month and a week ago I came into Two Fish Divers Amed as an Advanced Open Water diver, and I plowed through the PADI Rescue Diver Course and survived through my final course and getting my PADI Divemaster Certification. So what does a Divemaster does in a day? Don’t lie, I know you are thinking about it… whether you want to admit it or not,  I’m still gonna tell you 😉

6:30am – Breakfast time, for me it was a nice plate of fruits and some scrambled eggs or a fruit omelet, if vegetarian is your gig, coffee or tea to accompany it all together.

7:15am – Arrival at Two Fish Amed, it appears this morning, full bottles just arrived so let’s pull up our muscles and carry some of the tanks to the center’s office. Then check the board to see today’s plan. I’m diving! Score!

Before 8:00 am my kit is ready and whoever’s joining on the boats kit as well and in the boat so it’s time to leave for the first dive. Boat briefing, dive site briefing and in the water we go. So we had a full boat, we’re back at the center for a short break and tank change.

10:00am – Off to the 2nd dive, again, boat briefing and dive site briefing…

Lunchtime! Oh wait, before we empty the boat or change the tanks again!

2:00pm – We are back aboard the boat for the 3rd dive – which means another boat and dive site briefing!

Back to the center after diving and rinse, wash and store everything for the end of the day… oh but wait, there is a night dive! Leave whoever’s kit ready for the shore dive or car ride to the site, once the dive is done, rinse wash and lock up.

7.00pm – Then I go home, have a beer maybe, eat something, study a bit and time to sleep, a very satisfactory day and a win all round.

Now obviously alone this would be a nightmare, but when you are working towards your Divemaster certification in Bali you are part of a team of either the local dive guides or with other Divemaster trainees, so all of this is a breeze! It’s been extremely satisfying to see the guests’ faces full of joy when they are ready to leave because they had such a wonderful experience so you sleep comfortably at night knowing you’re changing lives every day, for the better!

Now that I have my Divemaster certification it’s a wrap for me. If you like diving or are curious about what’s under the water and wish to pursue some courses, I do recommend doing it with Two Fish Divers Amed – they have amazing instructors and are a wonderful team. Even if you don’t necessarily want to work in the diving industry, you can still get a challenge out of what they can offer.
