I’ve been in Amed for about two weeks now, and a few days ago have officially started my Divemaster course. So much is clear already – it’ll be a busy time!
My first week here was spent fun diving to increase the number of dives I had when I arrived, so I could officially start my Divemaster course. That happened a few days ago, and, so far, things haven’t stopped. When I’m not underwater, I spend my time trying to identify fish I don’t know yet, reading my course manual, talking with the instructors about diving theory and assisting on courses. So far, I’ve had a chance to see part of an open water course and this blog was written between morning adventure dives and a night dive to complete an Advanced Open Water course.
Most of all, though, I’m spending time observing what is happening around me. I’m becoming more and more part of the team. The highlights so far are:
- done a dive in the strongest current I’ve ever been in so far
- going diving with the divemasters who are amayzingly good at finding tiny things I never would have seen and having the time finding some of them myself
- guiding for the first time as well
And there are so many more things I’m not thinking about right now. All in all these 2 first weeks have been anything but boring.
