The last two weeks of my PADI divemaster training in Lembongan has been truly amazing. I have barely seen such a variety of dive sites that can be explored all from just one dive center!
One day the boat could be heading north to one of the sites with beautiful corals, an abundance of reef fish as well as the occasional turtle and on the next day the boat may head south to find the mantas, the seahorse at crystal bay and if lucky also a mola mola.
My perhaps favorite dive so far, was at Manta Point. It was the deep dive for the divemaster program with instructor Bryce, but instead of just ticking the boxes for skills we saw more than ten sting rays gliding through the clear water, a sleeping marble ray and then shortly before we surfaced a gigantic pregnant manta started swimming around us. Only two days later we had a very special ride home from diving. After some great dives, everyone was sitting on the boat, soaking up some sun and chatting when we spotted some dolphins at the south tip of Nusa Lembongan. The captain immediately slowed down the boat and what we at first thought to be only a small group turned out to be more than 15 dolphins swimming besides our boat. The dolphins escorted us for a couple of minutes giving us enough time to enjoy this special ending to a great dive day.
Not only the marine life is great in Lembongan…Throughout the last two weeks I have learned so much about becoming a divemaster; how to dive safely, how to make sure everyone has an enjoyable time, how to help and how to be a better and more aware diver in general. Now I am truly looking forward to two more weeks of great diving to discover even more of the stunning marine life here.
