This week Jackie, a new divemaster trainee, arrived in Bunaken. We were really busy but had also a lot of fun. Together with the instructors Ina and Dion and some diveguides Jackie and me helped with a Coral Rehabilitation program. We helped the Indonesian Marine to rebuild a reef and even ended up in the local newspaper 🙂 This week was also time for some sport and I did some swim tests. I also had to do the “stress test”. While breathing with only one reg Jackie and me had to exchange our equipment under water. We did really well and scored the highest grade 🙂
The Discover Scuba Diving DSD workshop was quite exhausting. Ina and Jackie played first-time-ever divers and I had to help with teaching them basic skills in the pool. After that I guided them to an open water dive. They gave their best in behaving really as newbies and having lots of problems. I was out of breath during the whole dive:-).
Dom introduced me to some tec diving. After giving me some inputs we jumped into the pool with the backmount and did some skills. I liked testing some different kind of diving. I finished my dive site mapping and also the emergency assistance plan. Because I finished the theory I started reading the Encyclopedia of Recreational Diving. I am still having a good time here and there is a lot of joking with the local diveguides.
I am looking forward to next week.
Wish I could have joined in something good like that!
