My PADI Divemaster Internship in Indonesia
I had been a guest at Two Fish a couple of times before and decided to sign up for my Rescue Course and PADI Divemaster training. After finishing my PADI Rescue Course a few weeks ago, I started my PADI Divemaster internship in Amed immediately. Three weeks at Two Fish Divers Amed just went by in the blink of an eye. I have gained a lot of experience. Instructors here have not only taught me the theory in books, but they also share their diving and teaching experience which is very useful and unique. The style of each instructor is different, so I can integrate and find my own style.
A few days ago, there was something that impressed me even more! I dived in the USAT Liberty Shipwreck as a dive guide. It was my first time guiding someone underwater, and it was such a fun and memorable experience.
One night before that dive, I was still thinking about if I should dive on the Liberty one more time before guiding (at that time, I didn’t know that I would be a dive guide the next day). So when Markus, one of the Two Fish Instructors, tasked me to guide the first dive that morning, my first reactions were “Can I find the shipwreck?” and “What if I get lost?”
Yet, all of my concerns were resolved. Just like Markus said, as long as I find the Shipwreck, I can find my own way around the wreck. When I started, every detail of the Liberty became even clearer than before. As a fun diving customer, what I saw before was a little bit scattered, but now as a guide, it feels as though it’s complete!
I’ve learned many things on my Divemaster Internship in Amed. One thing I learned from this experience is don’t be too afraid to start something for the first time. I can’t know what the outcome will be until I start. Just do it or learn to do it. I hope that I can experience more “first times” in the coming days, and also know that things are not perfect the first time! I am so happy with my PADI DIvemaster Internship in Amed – I have learned so much – not just what’s in the course!
