Hi there Bloggers!
The last week as a Divemaster Trainee (DMT) has flown by!
First, a big welcome to Chris from Norway, who started his DMT this week. It’s great to have a DMT buddy to work and dive with!
After some changes to my schedule due to a sore throat and squeaky voice, this week’s highlights include assisting Instructor Stephanie on a Discover Scuba Diving course both in the pool and open water, which was great for my experience and development. Stephanie also role – played a diver with various problems underwater as did Egan the guide. A great learning experience made good fun by Stephanie and Egen.
I’ve also been leading some dives under Instructor supervision, as well as conducting boat and dive briefings. Let me tell you, it’s not as easy as the Two Fish crew make it look, so next time your Instructor / Divemaster / Dive Guide does a great job, let them know!
In the swimming pool I’ve been practicing demonstrating skills in preparation for my skills assessment and next week I’ll be working on rescue and mapping skills.
In the
ocean I’ve seen a nice bamboo shark asleep under some rocks, some colourful mantis shrimps, a large moray eel and blue and yellow ribbon eels, lots of lovely box fish, a pregnant puffer fish and two turtles. As someone who doesn’t like snakes, spotting a 1.5 meter banded sea snake swimming along was “interesting”!
In Manta Bay we had the pleasure of diving with manta expert Lillian from the Aquatic Alliance (www.aquaticalliance.org). We saw seven different manta several of whom were happy to hang around as we hovered close to the bottom. Magical.
Above the water I got to meet Two Fish owner Tina and have a meal with all of the Two Fish crew, and tried a few of Laurent’s excellent mojitos.
Bring on next week!!
hahaha lawak sx tong pe dive master…….
Another norwegian? 😀 Lykke til, Chris. Håper du får det like fint som jeg hadde det i Bunaken i vår. Flotte folk! Og hils Stephani fra meg. 🙂
