Divemaster trainee Conny in Bunaken – Week 2
So I made it into the 2nd week of my divemaster program.
In the second week, I caught an ear infection which helped me to focus more on the theory part of my course. ?
There is quite a bit of reading and watching DVD’s involved in the course. I watched the Divemaster DVD and a 2nd time the Open Water DVD’s. And this time, I took in a lot of stuff which I probably had missed when watching it the first time during my OWD.
Furthermore, I went on YouTube and looked up a few topics I was interested in which helped me to intensive my knowledge around the aquatic life and diving.
The exam is actually split into 2 parts both with 60 question each. It is multiple choice which obviously helps. Having said that the first exam is so much easier compared to the 2nd part of the exam. So I wrote first the “easy” part and two days later I sat through the 2nd part.
The aim is to reach at least 75% of the exam and it helps you to find out which subjects you still need to intensify when you actually find out at the end which questions you got wrong.
So I was very shaft when I managed to successfully complete both exams this week.
On top of that I was able to assist Markus with a group of Open Water Students in their Dive 1 & 2. It reminded me so much of my time when I did my OWD and it was great fun guiding the group.
I had another pool session with our instructor Dion and Sara who is doing the Divemaster program with me. We practised the 20 skills and did our stress test which is exchanging the BCD underwater whilst breathing on one regulator. And Dion made it a bit more challenging by taking our masks off and by blowing bubbles in our face with his octopus. But we’ve made it and got another 5 points for our overall result which is great.
