Our Divemaster trainee Lauren is very happy in Bunaken – “…I have now been in Bunaken starting my DM course for the past week and it is flying by! Every morning I wake up, grab a cup of coffee, and head to a hut with bean bag chairs and hammocks to relax and study…
The days are filled with a variety of courses, and I have already had the chance to help with an open water course from start to finish as well as dive with two sets of advanced open water students. Another open water course confined pool session starts this morning!
It is rewarding to see students go from start to finish and see them get excited about the marine life underwater – I can tell this is something that they will continue to do for their whole lives, and it’s a treat to be there at the start and guide them through some of their questions.
When not assisting with courses, there may be a knowledge review, or time to fulfill your own DM-specific skills. There is never a dull day! Today I helped to organize a clean-up for Project A.W.A.R.E. “Dive against debris” as Two Fish has adopted a local dive site and helps to monitor the debris in the area. Following is a link to information about project aware.
At the end of the day, a nice Bintang in the hammocks and the sounds of the staff playing music are a wonderful way to wind up the day (if you aren’t enjoying the stars and warm air boat ride home from a night dive).
The food is amazing here and the meals are all taken “family-style” at two large tables so you have a chance to mingle and get to know the guests better. The guests are a very international crew with varied experiences.
In general, I could not be happier with my decision to do my DM course with Two Fish. Markus, my instructor, has been very professional and thorough, and the one-on-one instruction is unparalleled. There are many courses to assist on, the diving is warm and absolutely beautiful (wall diving, drift diving, muck diving + schools of fish, turtles, nudibranchs etc), and the resort is very nice. Would recommend it to anyone 🙂
Best,
Lauren
