Lembeh has been absolutely wonderful. I have spent a total of one week here for my Divemaster training, and it is quite unlike anything else with its eclectic creatures and muck diving.
I have had fun dives every day and it is pretty unreal to be somewhere where every single dive I see multiple things I have never seen before. In my short time here, I have seen frogfish and wonderpus, a flamboyant cuttlefish, seahorses (both pygmy and otherwise), different pipefish, wonderful and weird nudibranchs, a large shipwreck, and so much more.
The resort sits in a very nice area – away from the major port side of the strait and nestled in the forest and right on a long black sand beach. There is a great outdoor desk area in front of the upstairs budget rooms where I am staying that has been great for my routine of waking up early to enjoy coffee while using my computer and enjoying the sounds of the birds. The feeling here is more relaxed overall.
Debs and Mark, the managers here, are the best. Couldn’t meet nicer people – they really go out of their way to make sure you, the guests, and the staff are all having their needs met and they have done a lot for me to make sure I move toward completing my course.
While here, I have completed the rest of my fitness tests (100m diver tow, 400m swim, and 800m snorkel swim), my skill circuits, and my skin diver and scuba review workshops. It has been a lot of fun the last two days to have Joe, another Divemaster candidate, here with me to share the experience.
Thank you again, this time to everyone in Lembeh!!
Best,
Lauren
