DIvemaster Training in Bunaken
My Divemaster training here at Two Fish Bunaken is coming to an end. Four weeks have almost passed, and I am so many experiences richer. I would like to use this last blog to praise the lovely and hardworking people that I have spent the past month with. The instructors, Colin and Maia, are doing an amazing job, dedicating all the hours of the day to teaching courses and making our guests happy, and solving any issue that might come up. They have been excellent instructors for me during my Divemaster training, always very understanding and patient. I have learned so much about diving during my divemaster training here, and I definitely feel more competent and skilled underwater than when I first came.
The rest of the crew here is likewise amazing. A great deal of the staff come from Bunaken Island itself, which gives it a nice and local vibe. They are always happy, and the dive guides know the walls of Bunaken better than anyone, and where all the special stuff is underwater – really incredible! For instance, they find the pygmy seahorses so easily, I’m truly impressed. When you have such a good relationship with the staff, everyday just becomes better, and especially if you put some effort into learning a bit Bahasa Indonesian – they really appreciate it!
Lastly, during my divemaster training, I have really enjoyed diving here. The visibility is like nowhere else, and the walls are beautiful filled with so many stunning corals. I feel so lucky diving in a place, where there are still many corals alive and striving and where biodiversity is among the greatest in the world. Unfortunately, you don’t see that everywhere today, so it’s truly a special experience. We still find plastic here in the ocean and on the beaches, though it is way less than many other places I’ve been, it is still something that should not be there. I hope cleanup efforts continue and that Bunaken gets even more protected (it’s already a protected marine area) and the efforts of keeping it plastic-free remain number 1 priority.
I can nothing but highly recommend people coming to Bunaken Island, not only for divemaster training and the exquisite diving, but also for the wonderful people working here. No wonder I have met so many guests that have been here, not only once, but many times before. It is definitely not my last time diving at Bunaken!
