Divemaster Training in Amed – Meet Ines
Hey there! My name is Inès, and I just started my PADI Divemaster training in Amed. I’m 22, and I just finished my engineering studies in Belgium. I needed some air and purpose in my life, so I gave it a try and decided to sign up for this formation. I’m now so glad I did! Leaving the comfort of home was something, but life here is so good! People are so kind, the diving is great, Two Fish Divers in Amed is very welcoming, it almost feels like home. Here’s a picture of the pool at the resort. As you can see, the sea is right behind as the center is on the beach. It feels pretty much like paradise!
I arrived already 10 days ago (time flies out here), and I started with the PADI EFR and Rescue courses. I immediately got integrated into the organization, and the formation was nice. My PADI Instructor, Markus, gave me constructive feedback, explanations, and answers to my numerous questions. I really felt like I was learning new things and developing my mind to react to stressful situations. Esther, the other Divemaster training in Amed (who’s been here for almost one month now), helped out with my skills and it was nice for me to get to know her. There are two other instructors here in Amed: Eze, French speaking like me, which is nice because I’m not perfectly bilingual; and Melissa, an American girl whose continuous smile is contagious (and who really enjoys my Belgian chocolate!)
After finishing my Rescue course, I started my Divemaster, meaning arriving at 7:15am at the dive center, helping to set up the gear, helping to take tanks from one point to another, chatting with the guests, carrying the equipment to the boat (which is some days pretty challenging with the big waves),… I won’t lie, it feels like a quick workout every morning, but it’s fun too and I usually leave after the busy day between 5 and 7 pm, and then go to dinner (the food is great here in case you’re wondering!)
In the last few days, I helped Markus out with a group of four PADI Open Water students who are learning to dive in Amed, it was nice to see their evolution and to give them some tips to improve their diving techniques! It was the first glance at this part of the diving industry for me, and I can now say that I truly like it!
