Meet Zero to Hero Star Nolan…
Nolan and Ryan are taking their Zero to Hero*** programs. They are going from PADI Open Water Diver through to Divemaster! This is Nolan’s first Blog!! 🙂
“Hello! My name is Nolan Murray and this is a little story about my journey to becoming a PADI Divemaster. This little adventure began when my good friend Ryan Sander and I had the grand idea to do a PADI Divemaster internship to meet the requirements for one of our university classes. After bouncing a few ideas around on where we should go we fell in love with the idea of doing our internship in Indonesia which led us to contact and sign up with Two Fish Divers! After a few months of planning and working logistics, we were off and running and headed to Indonesia! Immediately after we arrived in Denpasar airport we were greeted with smiles and open arms by two of the guides and divemasters from Two Fish Amed Resort!
After driving for two hours to what would be our new home for a month, we found ourselves in the beautiful little fishing town of Amed! The next morning we woke up to some of the most stunning views a person could find in Bali and met some of the best people you could meet there as well at Two Fish Amed. As soon as we got there we jumped into the pool to begin our PADI Advanced Open Water Course with our new instructor and soon to be good friend Rosa. She taught us everything we needed to know and before we knew it we were already starting our Rescue Diver Course and logging some of the most beautiful dives you could imagine, including exploring the magnificence that is the USAT Liberty shipwreck and discovering the incredibly diverse and tiny creatures that live in the muck of Two Fish Amed’s house reef!
For our Rescue Diver Course we had the pleasure of being taught by our amazing instructor and soon to be good friend Eazie who ingrained in us the importance of “practice what you struggle with the most so that you can be the best you can be“. Our Rescue course had many challenges that we had to overcome and skills we had to practice but in the end, we came out stronger and even more eager to become PADI Professionals! After completing both our Advanced and Rescue diver certifications, all we needed to start our Divemaster internship was to log 40 dives. We began diving our booties off and within a few weeks, we were at our 40 dive goal and had experienced some of the most amazing underwater sights a person could see! And we got to watch and learn from some truly skilled dive professionals. It was finally time for us to start our PADI Divemaster Internship but sadly we only had about a week left at Two Fish Amed Resort before we headed off to our second half of the internship in Two Fish Lembongan.
We made every second count and learned as much as we could from our two amazing instructors Rosa and Eazie and we also got to learn from the newly certified Instructor David who really opened our eyes to new ways of teaching diving and interacting with students! We are so grateful for the time we spent in Amed and really will miss the little family we got to be a part of over at Two Fish.
Thanks for reading and there’ll be another update from us (Nolan and Ryan) next week!
