Week 1 of my Divemaster training in Bunaken completed, and what a week! I chose Bunaken for its famous wall dives and chilled island vibes and it certainly has delivered.
During the week, the centre has still been getting alot of visitors, even for low season! This gave me lots of opportunities to assist on the open water, advanced open water and rescue diver courses.
It was fantastic to be on the other side and help these divers learn new skills or even better, be there during their first ever dive! I loved watching the instructors Sam and Ilse impart their knowledge and experience, And taught me different ways to help out divers and demonstrate skills.
Besides assisting on courses, I have been working through trusty old theory, swim tests and skills practice with the ever patient Ilse and Sam. It’s been great to build my knowledge and develop my own skills, and have made my dives even more enjoyable. I surprised myself and managed the underwater equipment exchange, although learning physics again has definitely reactivated a very hidden/non existent part of my brain!
The days are long but full of banter with the team and the guests. Let alone finished off with a nice cold beer with the boys strumming a guitar, couldn’t ask for more.
Let’s join Kim, with Two Fish Divers for your Divemaster course, we will very happy to welcoming you !
