Did you know that the Bunaken Marine Park was one of the first Marine Protected Areas in Indonesia? It’s also where we first set up our home and our first Two Fish Divers Resort – Two Fish Bunaken Resort. We fell in love with Bunaken’s charm, stunning wall dives and we are sure you will too. The Bunaken Marine Park is 890 km2 and located just off the northern tip of Manado Bay, in the Sulawesi Sea. This is perhaps one of the most species diverse sites on the planet – 70% of all fish species that can be found in the Indo-Western Pacific Ocean can be found around Bunaken – it’s a scuba divers dream come true!

Stunning reefs and diverse marine life
Marine Life Species
Bunaken is renowned for its turtle sightings – you’ll be amazed by how many you can see in a single dive at some of our sites. Most commonly, we spot two species but Bunaken is actually frequented by an impressive 5 out of 7 sea turtle species.
When it comes to fish, Bunaken has diversity in abundance. 33 species of butterflyfish have been recorded around our dive sites and did you know that we dugongs are spotted here and between the months of July and August, you may even catch a glimpse of some sperm whales.

Green sea turtles abound around Soth Lombok
Many of Bunaken’s dive sites are wall dives, and where pockets of shelter can be found, you are quite likely to spot resting oceanic whitetip and blacktip reef sharks. When you are diving, keep an eye out to the blue as spotted eagle rays often fly by.
The fun doesn’t stop when you get back on the boat – we often have pods of dolphins playing in the boat’s wave-break when we travel to and from dive sites!

Sachiko’s Point
These two drift dive sites, situated on the northeast corner of Bunaken Island feature steep slopes and walls of healthy, vibrant coral, diverse fish life, interesting critters, and occasional passing eagle rays. At Sachiko’s Point alone, 301 species of fish have been recorded, a true testament to the successes of the marine park. Trevallies, glassfish, barracuda, Napoleon wrasse, green sea turtles, and parrotfish are just a handful of what there is to see here.
Lekuan 2
Another stunning wall dive where you will see turtles, turtles, and more turtles! From turtles resting on ledges to turtles swimming in the blue and surfacing for air – you’ll get your fill of turtles here. The wall at Lekuan 2 is also home to a vibrant mix of corals and in the shallows, you’ll find schooling pyramid butterflyfish and hoards of other reef fish.
Bunaken Timor
This is a stunning wall dive on the east coast of Bunaken Island which offers dense coral coverage, enchanting shallow-water coral gardens, turtles, critters and kaleidoscopic colours. Tiwohoo is home to an abundance of critters
Tiwohoo
Tiwohoo is the name of a small village on the mainland of North Sulawesi – this dive site is located directly in front of the village and if you are a macro and critter aficionado this is a dive not to be missed. You’ll find everything here from ribbon eels, nudibranch and a range of crustaceans through to a host of cephalopods and bizarre-looking bottom dwellers.
