This week of my divemaster training was once again a lot of fun, although a little less full on because after my foot injury I managed to give myself a back injury… Not even lifting tanks the wrong way, just simply by pushing it with my legs bent and somehow I must have pulled something in my lower back since I heard a crack… So during those dry days I took my theory exam and standards exam and passed both. After a couple of days everything got into place with my back problems and now it’s business as usual.
The programme this week included part 1 of the mapping project and assisting on a simulated Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) course, it is really funny to see dive guides and dive instructors acting as beginners, they do a really good job pretending to be first-timers! Excellent acting skills. Also did my tired diver tow timed swim as well as equipment exchange, both went very nicely and I did a lot better than I expected.
Tomorrow have to go back to immigration to sort out my visa extension, unfortunately the bureaucracy in Indonesia leaves much to be desired… Hopefully all will go well though as I really do not feel like spending another day there.
Coming up next week we have an open water student and I’m very excited to participate to see how he will do, it brings me back to when I did my open water course and how strange everything felt for the first time. More on that later…
