On September 20 we left Auckland, New Zealand to begin our adventure with Two Fish, Nusa Lembongan. Our flight was an hour late into Denpasar and we already had a tight schedule for catching the last ferry to Nusa Lembongan without the delay. We cleared customs and immigration ready to book a hotel for the night ourselves and contact Bryce. We had been informed that the driver would need to leave by 1630 so we did not think anyone would still be waiting an hour later. Sure enough, Two Fish had a driver waiting for us and had even booked a room for the night for us in Sanur. A taxi was arranged for the next morning to the ferry and we transferred by ferry to Lembogan. We checked into our room early that morning and stopped by Two Fish.
We were met by Bryce and Ludwig and took a quick tour of the facility. I was told to bring my equipment by at 1700 and that I would have the chance to meet the rest of the team. I was able to meet the other Divemaster candidates, Ben and Nicole. Paula and I reviewed my schedule for the next few days and the course work began.
It was very impressive to see everything already planned well in advance. We reviewed the basic daily schedule (load the boats, set up gear, etc.) and set the time for arrival the next day.
I was ready to dive the next day with Fred, Ben and Nicole. This was a good familiarity dive that gave me a chance to learn the process and get my head back into diving. That afternoon, we went over the Divemaster curriculum in detail and had a PADI Pro Website demonstration.
This has been a great start to a new adventure. Two Fish has assembled a great program that will be challenging and rewarding. I’m looking forward to the days ahead of learning new skills, meeting new people and challenging myself.
