As our Feb IDC Bunaken program hits this half-way mark, its time for a quick re-cap for what our all-girls contingent have been doing.
IDC Bunaken program starts with the EFR Instructor Course
This is always great fun, and naturally in an all-girls group there was an immediate connection which helped make the day a lot of fun.
Open water skill circuits
The first few days of the IDC Bunaken program always starts with some classroom presentations and skill circuits in the pool. The circuits are really important as IDC candidates have to get alot better at their diving skills as they have to be second-nature to an instructor. I mean, have you ever seen an instructor who cannot clear a mask?
From the first circuit the CD is satisfied that they are all on the right track, and there will be more fine-tuning with additional circuits over the next few days.
One thing to note is that there seems to be toilet breaks! Is it because its an all girls IDC? (our female CD’s comment, not mine!).
Turtles keeping us company on the IDC Bunaken program
The IDC managed to get out on the boat for the whole morning and did some open Water presentations with demonstrations, and controlled emergency swimming ascent skills while breathing. We also had some very nice turtles who kept us company.
Its great to get out on the boat for these sessions, after all this is why we want to become an instructor – to be able to do the things we love and go diving in great locations!!!!!!
We just want to say a big thank you to all the Two Fish staff that came along and played students today!!! We try and bring some of the local dive guides on these open water sessions, not only does this increase the numbers for the IDC candidates to practise on but its a great learning experience for the guides as well. As usual it’s always VERY entertaining!!!
