This weeks our guests were fascinated by a beautiful lionfish that was flying over the reef of the North part of Nusa Penida. Normally they are hiding in little caves under rocks and barely move but our guests Saskia and Sarah from Germany had the pleasure to watch the little creature for a couple of minutes how it was hovering over the reef and spread out all of its spines.

Lionfish are known for their venomous fin rays. The potency of their venom makes them excellent predators and they are venomous to divers. The venom can cause systemic effects such as extreme pain, nausea, breathing difficulties and other but their venom is rarely fatal to healthy adults. But some species have enough venom to produce extreme discomfort for a period of several days. Watch but don’t touch is even more important in this case!

We want congratulate our guest Michelle who did the PADI Discover Scuba Diver but she made many guests jealous when she saw a manta on her first dive and a mola on her second dive!! She was so happy with her first diving experience that she continued diving the next day.

Also congratulations to Alena and Basten who comleted the PADI Open Water course, and to Dan who learnt how to save divers lives during his PADI Rescue Course.

Our PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) is coming to an end with the Instructor Exam today and tomorrow, and we want to wish Kathy every success! Go Kathy!
