This week in Lombok … its frogfish time at the south gilis!
The about 10 centimetres green giant frogfish at our divesite in South Lombok “Pearl Beach” got some company. We count right now 3 of this amazing animals. The frogfish also named as commerson’s frogfish can grow up to 38 cm. They can change their coloration in a few weeks and their coloration is extremely variable. Even as they tend to match their environments, for the good eye of our PADI divemaster Rein was that no problem to spot. Also we saw his little brother a baby hairy light brown frogfish in 5 metres and as usual the bigger sister at her favourite place glued at a bottle. Both at our divesite “the sands” . Both divesites will rise the heartbeat of every frogfish- and macro fan. Also we saw our homies: ornate ghost pipefish; halimeda ghost pipefish; white leaffish; orang utan crap; hairy spider crap; pygmy seahorse and many more!
We say also big well come to our new PADI Dive instructor Robyn Kate Jones. Yesterday arrived, she was excited to touch the water again and was not disappointed from her first dives at the south gilis. Our divesites present themselves in an amazing shape with about 20 to 25 metres visibility and we had some awesome drift dives at our divesites “lighthouse” and “orange county”.
The Mobula rays are back! The conditions at belongas are getting better with a visibility of about 20 metres. The big stuff finally are touched down at our awesome and challenging divesites. The week bevor only 3, now they saw about 20 mobula rays. Also the Hammerheads are showing up more often and they saw past week again 5 of the giants.
Hope to see you with us in South Lombok soon…
