Last week in Lembongan was quite windy, this gave us a chance to explore North and East corner of Nusa Penida, and on one of the dives we spotted some amazing Hammerhead Sharks! Three nice big sharks were slowly swimming in a small current, and they stayed for us enjoy them and take some great video – you can view it below or see it on our Facebook page. The group of repeater guests from Belgium who experienced the hammerhead sharks with us will forget Lembongan diving very quickly!!
The Scalloped Hammerhead (Sphyrna lewini) is the most common Hammerhead Shark, but still not seen everywhere and every day!! By heading to our secret spot away from the crowds we were able to enjoy the action with no-one else around! At night they tend to head out into deeper water, but by day they often hang around closer to shore in small or large groups, so the ones we saw were acting exactly according to type! Like many other sharks they are an endangered species, so it’s great to see some still enjoying life around Nusa Penida.
This week we had DMT Markus successfully completed his Divemaster course, and we have another DMT Diana who is finishing her course next week – good luck!
Sunny days and plenty of fish to everyone from Lembongan!!
