Where does one begin telling a story about how diving has changed our life…
Two months ago, after a challenging year, we packed up our corporate lives in Dubai in search of new challenges, opportunities and life experiences because we had had enough of the rat race lifestyle and the heat in the Middle East. We had a rough outline resembling a plan but had no idea what to expect when we finally decided to continue our diving education.
Three weeks in and halfway through the Divemaster course, we are overwhelmed by the number of things we have already learned and continue to pick up every day. And the diving is no exception! We have visited the sites around Nusa Lembongan several times already but they continue to surprise us every day with new creatures to discover. That’s not even mentioning the amazing dives with the Manta’s and of course there is the everlasting hunt for the Mola Mola which, sadly, until now has repeatedly eluded us. Every dive is different and we have yet to be disappointed.
Living the island life and chasing your passion is an amazing experience. We are so lucky that we are able to do this at this point in our lives and with each other, making memories and experiencing new things together; we meet wonderful people on a daily basis and we are changing into much better, happier, healthier and well-rounded individuals because of it.
It’s definitely not easy but it is so rewarding. We are developing a love for the ocean that spans beyond recreational diving and hope to continue once we finish our DM course, and eventually help others learn to love it as much as we do.
So what’s next? Who knows! There is an Instructor Development Course on the mainland in October and we are very interested in stepping up another rung in the PADI ladder so we’re looking into that, but for the time being, we are nomads and loving it!
