In November 2016 we are running our inaugral Bali tech safari, a 6-day diving safari taking in the deeper dive sites of Amed, Tulamben, Candidasa and Padang Bai.
If you are a qualified tech diver then our Bali Tech Safari is the perfect chance to get your tech diving fix. If you’re not yet a qualified technical diver then maybe you would like to find out how to join us? Read on to find out what’s happening…
Our inaugral Bali Tech Safari
Dive Profiles
Over the 6 days the diving will be a mix of great reefs, walls and a couple of wrecks. You will be doing up to 9 deco dives between 25 and 45 metres, this means that you will already need to be qualified as a PADI Tec 45 or a TDI Decompression Procedures diver.
For recently qualified tech divers, this is a great trip to extend their tech diving experience under professional supervision. If you’re not yet a qualified technical diver and are interested in joining, you can find out more about our tech diving courses.
Dive Sites Visited
The Bali tech safari starts out at our brand-new tech base in Amed. A traditional fishing and salt-making village, Amed might be firmly on the recreational diving map, but is not so often dived below 30 metres. It is home to plenty of dive sites that feature walls and slopes, and they are easily accessible and simply perfect for a bit of technical exploration.
20 mins up the coast is Tulamben, where the main attraction for most divers is the USAT Liberty shipwreck. She lies in 5 – 30 metres and the reef continues sloping a little further down. Mola-Molas have been seen here, and the wreck itself offers an ideal background for our deco stops.
A little further south, the Candidasa & Padang Bai areas are about 1 hour drive and offer great opportunities to see reef sharks resting under small overhangs or on the 40 m+ sea bottom.
Our Schedule
Ease yourself in with a leisurely day that includes pick-up from Bali airport and transfer to Amed where we meet at our tech centre. The afternoon is reserved for equipment set up and test dives which can be done in our pool or on the house reef.
You’ll be staying in Amed and transferring to the dive sites every day from our tech center. Over the next five days, we’ll be completing two deco dives per day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Depths will vary from 25 to 45 m, depending on dive sites and dive plans.
Price
The trip is priced at IDR 12,500,000 per person. This includes:
- back gas (air) for each dive
- five bottles of EAN50 based on incurring minimum decompression on the second dive and simply using up your gas. However, should you require more, this can be arranged in addition.
- transport to and from the dive sites, lunch, entrance fees where applicable and any local taxes.
- Accommodation is not included. There are many options available, and we recommend our resort base at Surya Rainbow Villas, where the price will be in the range of IDR800,000/nt per room (incl breakfast).
How challenging is it?
Whilst there will be small swim-throughs for those who like to explore a little further, there are no significant overhead environments to deal with. Dive teams will be kept small, with a maximum of 2 – 3 divers per guide, and no more than 6 guests on the trip overall. This guarantees that we can make dive plans to suit your experience and preferences on a daily basis.
Need a bit of training before diving deep?
We can organise refresher dives and / or additional tech training before the trip, please contact us for more details.
