Hey everyone! I’m Will and I am the new DiveMaster Intern joining the Two Fish Divers team at Bunaken Island for the next few weeks!
My first few days at Bunaken have already been great fun. As well as starting my DMT course and completing some of the learning objectives, I’ve also been following Rocky (one of the dive guides) on some fun dives with resort guests. This has been a wonderful learning experience watching him point out some very difficult creatures to spot, such as: leafy scorpion fish, nudibranchs, shrimp, crabs and flatworms, of course alongside the more famous Bunaken Marine Park residents, Turtles!
It is always sad when somebody leaves the island; in part because we know they aren’t going to see all the good stuff Bunaken has anymore, but more so because of what has set Two Fish Bunaken apart from the rest of the dive resorts I’ve visited in the past few years, the atmosphere. At Two Fish, guests, guides and staff all mingle and share diving tips and stories from around the world, it’s a constant learning experience- which I think is exactly what diving should be about!
Before visiting Indonesia, I had never participated in a drift dive, however here currents are more than common and can be both a real treat, and on occasion a bit of a surprise! But because of the skill, communication and experience of the staff here I have learned how to deal with current and now am beginning to really enjoy them, it also makes it much more fun when turtles join you on your drift!
See you here soon!
