This week in Lembongan… While diving at Manta Point, our divers were lucky to spot this lazy bamboo shark lounging around in the open. These easy going sharks are very relaxed during the day and are often seen resting on the bottom or hiding in cracks in the reef. These sharks mainly feed at night so the day is spent chilling out. They have very small teeth and feed on small fish and invertebrates, so they are very far from the ‘super shark’ depicted in the movie Jaws! It was a great week to be spotting sharks as it was the 40th birthday of the classic movie Jaws.
Besides seeing sharks in Lembongan, our divers also experienced another great encounter with the manta rays. Yemi, who is on a mission to dive at all Two Fish locations (he left for Lombok today), saw more manta rays in that one dive, than he had seen in his last 15 years of diving. He was amazed with the experience and while sitting on his safety stop, he had 7 manta rays passing below him in a line.
As the waters are getting a little bit cooler, we know that we are approaching mola season. Keep an out eye for our weekly posts to see how lucky our divers are this mola season.
While our divers have been admiring the larger creatures, our dive guides have been using their amazing spotting skills to find many different nudibranchs, flat worms, boxer crabs, octopus, shrimps and ribbon eels, tucked in the reef.
