Everything Halimeda is impressing Two Fish divers in Lembeh this week! If you are not already familiar with the small green leaves of Halimeda Algae, there’s good reason to become acquainted on your next visit to Lembeh. Halimeda Ghostpipefish are just one example of the rare and beautiful creatures that hang out in beds of Halimeda. Called Ghostpipefish because of their uncanny ability to disappear and reappear like an apparition, the Halimeda Ghostpipefish does a perfect impersonation of the algae that it camouflages against.
Repeat guests at Two Fish Divers, Paul and Jo, were excited by their Halimeda Crab sighting during their Photography Course this week. Also referred to as the Arrowhead Crab, this imitator crab does its best to imitate the Halimeda Algae that it lives on. The Halimeda Sap-Sucking Slug is yet another reason to look a little closer at these algae beds. This adorable Sea Slug that sports two eyespots perfectly matches his surroundings in color and body shape, and is quite the personable macro-photography subject!
Other exciting sightings at Two Fish Divers in Lembeh this week include Shaun the Sheep Sap-Sucking Slugs, Juvenile Hairy and Painted Frogfish, Blue-Ringed Octopus, a variety of Pygmy Seahorses, a Coconut Octopus holding a clutch of eggs, baby Flamboyant Cuttlefish hatching from their egg-casings, and numerous Starry Night Octopus sightings!
Alongside all the amazing critter sightings, we are also seeing an influx of students at Two Fish Divers, Lembeh.
