This week in Lembongn… It has been a week full of mantas. People may know Lembongan for the currents or the stories from Crystal Bay or Mangrove but the sites that protect us from these know currents, provide us with the amazing reward of spending time underwater with manta Rays. Lembongan = Manta Rays. Here in Lembongan there is a manta research team that helps protect these amazing creatures in our area as well as track their travels. Last week Aquatic Alliance was happy to announce the identification of the 500th manta in the area. With all these mantas flying through and around our waters, you have about an 80% chance to experience the sensation of dancing with these great rays.
We work closely with Aquatic Alliance to help give them the chance to get out to the manta dive sites, to jump in the water to conduct their research. It was on one of our dive trips to Manta Bay in which the 500th manta was photographed and named. Today on the boat we had, Stew in the water at Manta Bay with his camera looking for that 501st manta.
Also this week we welcomed Angela and Phil to the team as our new divemaster trainees. Look out on Facebook and the Two Fish blog for their weekly blog of their weekly adventures.
Other creatures we have seen underwater have been; frog fish, barracuda, leaf scorpion fish, dolphins at the surface and underwater, turtles and sea snakes.
