Hello again! This is Nolan, you may remember me from a previous blog post when my good friend Ryan and I were just finishing up our Rescue diver course and just beginning our incredible divemaster internship adventure with Two Fish divers!
My Zero to Hero Journey
Sadly we had to leave our new scuba family we had just made at Two Fish Amed over the past month in a quest for new diving conditions and exciting new adventures. Little did we know that when we would make the voyage from Amed to Two Fish Nusa Lembongan that we would meet an amazing new scuba family with some of the coolest divers in Indonesia! As soon as we rolled off the side of the boat and started to make our descent into the turquoise waters of Nusa Lembongan I knew we were going to have an amazing time. With our Two instructors and soon to be great friends John and Tom showing us this new underwater world that we would call home for the next month we had some of the most amazing experiences and made memories that will stick with us for a lifetime.
Just on our first dive alone we saw over six sea turtles and some of the most colorful and lively corral you could ever imagine. The diving here is very different from diving in Amed. In Amed you are more drawn to the jaw-dropping muck diving, Amazing wrecks and the tiny creatures that take a keen eye to spot, in Lembongan you are more drawn to the lively corral filled drift dives and beautiful Manta rays that might be feeding or hanging out at a cleaning station in Manta Bay or Manta Point.
Both dive locations are amazing for their own special reasons. It was an incredible experience to be able to explore both of them in so much depth! If I had to choose what my favorite diving experience was in Lembongan it would have to be either the day we had multiple beautiful Mantas of various sizes soaring overhead and what felt like dozens of playful octopus slinking across the sand beneath us. Or the magical dive to Manta Bay where we got to snorkel with mantas for the first time during our surface interval and when we began our dive we saw a bamboo shark hiding in a small rock overhang, a vibrant blue, orange, black, white and yellow super Nudi, a sea turtle, a blue ring octopus a blue lobster, a mantis shrimp and ended the dive with a Gigantic Black manta soaring by without a care in the world. I can’t even imagine a more exhilarating dive! In addition to all the amazing sights we saw on our dives in Lembongan we also learned so much about how a scuba shop is run, How to work and teach people new skills underwater, and how to guide guests on some of the most spectacular dives they will ever have. Getting to guide my first real guests was one of the coolest feelings I can think of and really added a new level of hype to scuba diving that I can not wait to continue experiencing.
As our time here at Lembongan is coming to a close and our PADI Divemaster certification is almost complete I would like to give a huge heartfelt thank you to everybody in our Two fish family who helped us along the way and really showed us what scuba diving is all about.
