Discover Lembongan’s Mangrove Forest
One of the reasons why the reefs around Nusa Lembongan are home to so many fish is, for sure, because of Lembongan’s mangrove forest which lies to the north side of our island. It is quite a big area which allows juvenile underwater life to grow up safe and in harmony with the environment. Lembongan’s mangrove forests are like a giant nursery for juvenile fish where they can grow and be nourished in relative safety before moving out onto the reefs.
This area is not only important for marine life, but Lembongan’s mangrove forest is also amazing to visit. We love the area so much that we have now made arrangements for divers at Two Fish Lembongan to be able to organize a tour from our office! It’s important for divers to see the complete circle of marine life and it’s a really fun afternoon after diving – you’ll be punted through the mangroves in a small boat. To keep the mangroves healthy like they are now there are no engines allowed, the boats get pushed forward only with a stick.. Where the Mangroves reach open sea the view is amazing. On a good evening, you can see the amazing tree structures of the mangroves and Mount Agung in the back. What a peaceful scenery, full of joy and harmony.
