Senggigi, North/West Lombok this week we have been exploring the beach dive just off the front here at night..yes indeed night dives here we have come!!!
We set up our gear at the dive shop, get into a car that takes us up to the Art Market around a 2 minute drive. We then put our gear on and walk a few meters to the beach. Enter as you would a normal shore night dive and descend at around 2 meters.
The swim out to the deeper part takes around 7 minutes and on route straight away we spot sea life, big boulders and corals.
Once we get past the corals and boulders it is then a sandy sloping bottom. We dived at 10 Meters maximum depth.
Now the absolute highlight of this dive was the amount of lionfish, I have never in all my 3600 dives seen so many lionfish and the variety too. Every 2 meters there would be a group from smaller ones to bigger just chilling on the sand. The different variety’s we saw were: Shortfin lionfish both the common colour and the yellow variation, common lionfish, Indian lionfish, clearfin lionfish and Zebra lionfish. Really guys they were everywhere!!
Other than the lionfish we saw catfish, Spider crabs, coconut octopus, 2 cuttlefish, Decorator crabs, Shrimps and Mantis shrimps.
A wonderful muck night dive for all the macro lovers.
